Clinton was elected as a Senator of New York in 2000 after moving to the state the year before. In the Senate, she served on the Armed Services Committee and made a point of building cross-party coalitions on some issues. Although she and Obama questioned each other's abilities during a hard-fought Presidential primary, they have taken pains more recently to express confidence in one another. Taking a high-profile foreign-policy position means she's unlikely to have a hand in any health-care policies under Obama, perhaps exorcising the specter of her failure to reform health care early in her husband's Presidency.
